Aug. 23-25, 2012
The Kent Firemen’s Fair is an opportunity to enjoy small-town fun – games, food and carnival rides – are all designed to provide residents and visitors with an enjoyable three-day event. This year’s Fair will feature free admission.
The Kent Volunteer Fire Department offers its annual fair for a number of reasons. The event is a fundraiser, but it is also a community event and is designed for families.
The Kent Volunteer Fire Department has decided to move back to its traditional date in August (the weekend before Labor Day), so the dates will be Thursday, Aug. 23 through Saturday, Aug. 25. Fairgrounds open at 6 p.m. each night.
There are a few changes this year to the 2012 Fair. There will not be fireworks, nor the White Elephant Booth. However there will be a rides bracelet offered all three nights. For one price you can ride the amusement rides all night.
The popular Cake Booth will return to this year’s fair and the volunteers rely on community bakers to help fill the booth. Numbers will be drawn for the winners of cakes and other confectionery items. Anyone who is interested in baking a cake, has questions, or needs a cake picked up, is asked to call JoAnn Gleason Whitmore, 927-4378. Baked goods may be brought to the cake booth anytime during the fair. For information, Email Whitmore10@yahoo.com.
Many of the familiar favorites will be back with a great selection of carnival rides, children’s games, music and the ever-popular Cake Booth and bingo returns to the fairgrounds each evening with cash prizes. The Firemen’s Parade will feature dozens of visiting firefighters and their trucks on Friday evening.
