The Kent Volunteer Fire Department Juniors always encourages new members to join. It is open to all Kent teenagers (age 14-18).
The Juniors are part of the Kent Volunteer Fire Department. They meet on on Thursday evenings at the Main Street firehouse. Juniors learn about firefighting techniques, how to rescue people, and how to tend to someone’s injuries with emergency medical services (EMS).
The Juniors don’t just talk about these topics, they get involved - hands on. Juniors have drills in cold water rescue, low-angle rope rescue, snow rescue, car fires, vehicle extrication, brush fire fighting, just to name a few. Certification courses are offered in areas such as CPR, brush fire fighting, Hazardous Materials, and Medical Response Technician (MRT).
Any teens interested in joining the Juniors are encouraged to contact the Senior Advisor at juniors@kentfire.org.
