Open House Oct. 14 focuses on fire prevention

The Kent Volunteer Fire Department will be holding an Open House and Fire Prevention Day Saturday, October 14, 2017.

This year we will be having some live fire demonstrations showing the importance of smoke detectors and fire protection equipment.  There will also be a cooking safety demonstration. We will offer fire extinguisher training with live fire to practice on. CT State Police’s Arson Investigation Unit will also give a demonstration on the help that they provide to towns.

The Fire Prevention Day Open House will be held 10 am. to 1 p.m. at the Kent Firehouse, 28 Maple Street.

On that same day, ACE Hardware on the Kent Green will be giving away free smoke detectors to the first 100 customers of the day. The store is located at 18 Kent Green Blvd.
