A large crowd of 174 people took advantage of a fundraising dinner May 12 offered by the Kent Republican Town Committee to raise funds for a new CPR device for the Kent Volunteer Fire Department.

A Spaghetti Dinner was held May 12 at the firehouse to purchase a second Lucas 3 Chest Compression System, which is a CPR device. The manufacturer states it is designed to “help improve outcomes of sudden cardiac arrest victims and improve operations for medical responders.” The unit performs 102 compressions per minute with a depth of 2.1 inches.

The meal included fresh made pasta, sauce, meatballs, fresh picked organic salad, bread, and pies by local baker Patsy Stroble.

KVFD has one device that was provided to it from a grant from New Milford/Danbury Hospital. The dinner raised funds for a second device for the second ambulance.

Fund raising efforts continue to purchase the LUCAS 3. Tax deductible donations can be made to the KVFD at P.O. Box 355 Kent, CT 06757. Please indicate LUCAS 3 in the memo section on the check.

A second LUCAS 3 Chest Compression System will be purchased with proceeds from the May 12 Spaghetti Dinner.
